Sometimes, online discussions about ideal husband qualities mention a preference for men "without friends." I disagree. I believe a good husband should have many friends. Having many friends signifies positive relationships throughout life. Ultimately, a marital relationship is a type of interpersonal connection, and I believe someone who has successfully maintained positive relationships in the past is more likely to do so in the future.
Isaac has many friends who are like family. Seeing them together, their bond is like that of true brothers. My mother-in-law played a significant role in this. Isaac's house was everyone's "hangout," she says. Everyone gathered at Isaac's house, and my mother-in-law always stocked the refrigerator with ribs, feeding the kids endlessly. Growing up together under one roof, they naturally became brothers.
One of the best things about marrying my husband is that his close friends have become my friends. The sense of security I feel from being naturally absorbed into such a strong and supportive community. The comfort of being able to casually visit their homes for a night or two, binge-watching Netflix and relaxing – these are not easily attainable things in life. Building deep friendships and trust takes significant time and effort. By marrying Isaac, I gained these precious relationships. This is a greater benefit of marriage than I initially anticipated.
Recently, Isaac's friends visited from New York for his birthday, staying at our house for three days and four nights. This was my first time meeting Michael and Anna, and surprisingly, I felt comfortable with them instantly. We spent those three days and four nights having a wonderful time with absolutely no awkwardness. I am so happy to have new friends, and it makes me so happy to have more people I love in my life.
